Verdict

There have been a number of shocks in the second leg of the Autumn Double in recent seasons with two of the last three winners having started at 66/1, though Big Easy was a much shorter price when successful 12 months ago having earlier finished second in the Cesarewitch Trial on the Rowley Mile course. Low Key won that race three weeks ago and his trainer David Pipe will be looking to maintain the relative stranglehold that NH trainers have had on the big staying races on the Flat this year. His eight-year-old only has a 4lb penalty so has to go on the short-list. Tony Martin saddles Galway Hurdle hero Quick Jack - second in the Chester Cup in May - Cassells Rock and York winner Heartbreak City, while Willie Mullins sends over Sligo hurdles winner Renneti. Gordon Elliott's Bayan, a very decent hurdler, is another interesting contender off a low weight as he won over 1m6f on soft ground on the Flat at Leopardstown last year. William Of Orange and Oriental Fox have been competing in pattern races but the Brown Jack Stakes at Ascot in July has proved a good trial for this in the past and High Secret, another of Sir Mark Prescott's four runners, finished second in that. CINNILLA wasn't far behind, however, and comes out best at the weights today. Ralph Beckett's stout stayer had no chance at the weights in a conditions race at Salisbury last month but that should have put her spot-on for this and she could run well at a big price on ground that will suit.
