PLATINUM STAR was only beaten half-a-length in the Windsor Castle at Ascot on his only previous start over 5f. He’s since finished second in the July Stakes and won a Listed contest over 6f at Ripon so is the form pick in this ahead of another Godolphin runner in Lazuli. Charlie Appleby’s colt is 2-2 but is stepping up in grade for this and dropping down in trip. Dream Shot kept on for second in the Flying Childers at Doncaster and appears to have the beating of Flaming Princess on that run. The latter probably has the best recent form among the fillies but Jamaheery was impressive on debut at Yarmouth and has bags of scope. Soft going would be a worry for Ayr second Graceful Magic so Irish raiders Ickworth and Pistoletto could be the pick of the remainder.
