The much vaunted Jalil sets foot on the track for the first time, and can start to repay some of his huge purchase price, with fellow newcomers Dance Of Light, Madaarek and Chunky's Choice all worth a mention. The well-bred Jalil, a son of the highly respected Tranquility Lake, cost no less than $9.7m at last year's Keeneland sale, making him the top lot, and judged by the way that he has been working at home, it could be money well spent. The filly Dance Of Light is a full-sister to Dr Massini, and has already been pencilled in for next year's Irish Oaks, so with her future mapped out, she will be expected to give a good account today that is for sure. Madaarek makes some appeal on breeding, the dam being from the same family as Chief's Crown, while Chunky's Choice hails from a stable that houses some of this season's top two-year-olds. John Gosden has a good strike rate here and relies on Sam Lord from a total of five entries, but he will have to improve on what he has shown so far to make an impact. The market will reveal if any of the others is fancied, but Jalil cost a fortune, and connections will be crestfallen if he does not prove up to the task.
