Verdict

Carolus Magnus won a maiden at this fixture last year and scored over track and trip in September. He’s 5lb higher on his return but HORTZADAR is due to be raised 3lb for a recent nose defeat at Redcar and David O’Meara’s charge looks set to end a long losing run off his current mark. Via Serendipity finished ahead of the selection and Enigmatic when landing a claimer at Goodwood last autumn, though the latter pair re-oppose on better terms, while Coase won on the all-weather last month but is upped in class. A high-class three-year-old in France when landing the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat, Intellogent has failed to run anywhere near that level in the subsequent years and debuts for a new yard.
