Verdict

A typically open renewal of one of the most valuable handicaps of the season. Tees Components represents a trainer with a fine record in this prestigious contest and the former National Hunt bumper winner looks to have been laid out with this in mind having shown steady progress throughout the current campaign. However, the Risk Me gelding has yet to register a Flat turf victory and appears poor value at current odds in a race of this nature. Distant Prospect took the prize twelve months ago off a 4lb lower mark and has to go on the shortlist with conditions in his favour while Hugs Dancer is another to consider following his Ebor success (now 6lb higher) last time. Miss Fara has been the subject of strong ante-post support of late and should reverse Ascot placings with Mana d'Argent on 10lb better terms while stablemate Riyadh should also go well. The latter had many of today's rivals behind when scoring over 2m4f at Royal Ascot and remains on a fair mark being just 3lb higher. Both Double Honour and Hirapour have been competing in Patter company and neither should be dismissed lightly despite shouldering plenty of weight while Irish challenger Rapid Deployment was a progressive type last season and will be sharper for his belated return at The Curragh last month. However, a tentative TEAMtalk vote goes to Conquestadora who remains realtively lightly raced and has the profile of an improving handicapper. Gerard Butler's filly possesses a fair turn of foot for a stayer and has won five of her last nine starts. The daughter of Hernando was in need of her latest start at Ayr following a four-month break when finishing behind Tees Components. However, she should be cherry ripe today and, with conditions in her favour, will prove a tough opponent as her shrewd handler bids to complete the Autumn Double having lifted the Cambridgeshire earlier in the month.
