Laura Pike gets on well with VAINGLORY though things don't always go according to plan with the eight-year-old, who invariably finds the post coming too soon. The one certainty is that he'll be finishing stronger than anything else and hopefully he'll get there this time. After soft ground victories at Doncaster and Carlisle, Levitate faced quicker going and stronger opposition at York a week ago but ran even better behind Anderiego. He's only been raised 1lb and looks a big threat. Emilio Largo needed all of Ripon's mile to land a handicap in May and the 7f of the Buckingham Palace Stakes here last month was probably too short while Mark Johnston wouldn't enter a three-year-old in an all-aged handicap without good reason so Switzerland, whose two victories to date have been on Polytrack, is one to keep an eye on. Kyllachy Star hasn't won for a while but hasn't been going badly and is gradually dropping to a fair mark.
