        Verdict

        A tricky contest to complete the card and top-weight Rowan Lodge looks the class act here and can beat The Pheasant Flyer and Connotation. The Mark Tompkins trained colt has made a terrific transition to nurseries, finishing a close up sixth to Coleorton Dancer over course and distance, before making the classy Comic Strip pull out all the stops at Chester. He deserves his high rating and looks the one to beat. The Pheasant Flyer landed a Warwick maiden in good style last time, beating some promising types. It was only his second outing so there should be more to come.Connotation was a game winner from Clove in a Redcar nursery last time and can go close again under Frankie Dettori. So not the easiest of races to work out, but Rowan Lodge is proven in the type of event and may prevail.
