Verdict

Lang Shining, Nur Tau and Viva La Flag are the three to look at here with preference for Lang Shining. Newmarket maiden winner Lang Shining ran very well in defeat on his handicap bow at Sandown, coming from well off the pace to finish a close second, giving the strong impression he was given too much to do. A winner and placed horses have emerged from that contest, and his earlier Newmarket success has worked out well. He looks the one they all have to beat. In contrast, Viva La Flag was ridden enterprisingly at Newbury last time and held on to win. Only three pounds higher here he should not be discounted despite being a pound out of the handicap, and he also won at Sandown earlier this summer. Nur Tau made all the running when scoring at Sandown and he is likely to make a bod attempt to do the same again. This looks a tougher contest though, and the two front runners may set the race up for Lang Shining, who can show that he is better than his second last time.
