In depth

Verdict

The Godolphin-owned Princess Nada is a tentative choice over fellow debutantes Short Skirt and Pharia in a race that looks sure to produce plenty of winners if several of these live up to the latent potential held in their respective pedigrees. Mont Etoile and Zamala are also respected, as they set the standard from those with experience. Zamala showed plenty of guts on her debut last month; overcoming being unbalanced when they up the hill at Sandown to finish to good effect. She looks sure to be capable of winning a race at some point and can be placed to good effect when she gains in experience. Mont Etoile is closely matched with the last named on a line through Galileo's Star and she can be expected to know more about what is required of her this time around. Typically for many of the progeny of Montjeau, she was fractious in the preliminaries before her racecourse bow. Still, she stayed on to good effect and should have learnt plenty from the run. Watch how the market speaks about her. Pharia is out of a high-class seven furlong performer and is definitely worth keeping tabs on. However, John Gosden is noted for his patient approach with his two-year-olds and she is one to monitor for now. Similar comments apply to Short Skirt, who is a half-sister to several winners over middle distances. Sir Michael Stoute tends to leave plenty to work with when he sends one out for the first time and she is probably best watched. Therefore, we switch our attention to Dubawi's half-sister, Princess Nada, who looks sure to appreciate this sort of distance for her introduction. Godolphin have really found the key to their youngsters and, as this daughter of Barathea should have no trouble with the underfoot conditions, she has plenty in her favour to make a winning debut this afternoon.
