Verdict
Vortex looks the class act here and he can land this decent prize from Appalachian Trail and Khabfair. Gay Kelleway's six-year-old was well beaten in a valuable Listed event in France last time, but had previously been successful in a hot race at Lingfield. It was only a class four event but included some top handicappers rated in the 100's. He won with a little bit in hand that day and could still be a couple of pounds ahead of the assessor. Khabfair hasn't raced since October when chasing home the well treated Goodenough Mover. If fit after his holiday he should be involved in the finish. However a bigger threat to the selection may come from Appalachian Trail who looked back to his best when finishing an excellent third behind Ballast at Thirsk last month. The drop in trip should be ideal and it will be difficult to keep this one out of the money. Of the others Jedburgh has taken on good opposition and has each-way claims, however Vortex is expected to give weight and a beating to his rivals today.
