Verdict

Dutch Connection was a huge disappointment in this grade at Haydock. He never looked likely to take a hand in the finish and was behind both Larchmont Lad and TABARRAK. He would have been the form choice on an earlier fourth in the Lockinge but has questions to answer now and Richard Hannon’s gelding can come out on top this time. He has only a neck to find with Larchmont Lad and almost won in this grade at Salisbury last year – a subsequent defeat of Accidental Agent at Newbury has worked out well. Sir Dancealot and So Beloved probably exceeded expectations in their respective races at Royal Ascot but Lake Volta was firmly put in his place in the Jersey Stakes. Mankib has plenty to find on these terms.
