MARSOOL looks good enough to land this opener at the expense of Young Star Gazer and Hallstatt. The selection was scratched from Cartmel's Monday card in order to contest this which would appear on paper to be the easier of the two races. He ran well in defeat on his hurdles debut at Bangor, finishing second to Forty Thirty and if he recaptures that form he is sure to go close. Young Star Gazer is a newcomer for the Pipe stable having run four times for Henry Cecil this summer on the level. His form looked only moderate but he was placed in a couple of maiden races suggesting he would be good enough to win a juvenile hurdle at some stage so any market moves should be noted. Hallstatt won on his debut on the level for Mark Johnston and ran well in defeat thereafter. He did not quite run up to expectations on his first start over hurdles for Evan Williams but he should benefit for the experience. Marsool looked above average on his debut and is the percentage call.
