In depth

Verdict

A trappy race in which STUMPED is taken to see off Bushwacker and Indiana Gold. Milton Harris' seven-year-old is finally dropping down the weights after a couple of non-descript runs at Stratford. He has gone well at this track in the past so the market needs to be monitored copiously. Bushwacker was pulled up at Southwell and connections have reached for the tonguestrap as a consequence. Indiana Gold is well handicapped versus some of his old form and can be forgiven his latest faux pas as it obtained on a surface softer than ideal. Captain Marlon ran respectably on a drop to the minimum trip so is worth another try at two miles. O'Toole has been a grand old stager though old father time is starting to creep up on him. Blast The Past has yet to offer much since leaving the stables of Tim Walford. Stumped is selected in the hope that a return to this track reawakens his enthusiasm.
