Verdict

Though in the veteran stage now, GEORDIE DES CHAMPS won three times last year and has been knocking on the door again lately – his turn may have come around again. Umbrigado hasn’t raced since December but is a useful sort on his day and he underwent wind surgery in May. Mr Yeats has placed five times since winning at Ludlow in the spring but is a long way out of the handicap. Sammylou and Valentino are both course and distance winners and the latter goes well fresh so an absence since May is not necessarily a minus, though he does reappear on another career-high mark.
