Verdict
Polar Scout has been running consistently well over this sort of trip of late, including when successful at Doncaster last time and has an obvious chance, but Charlie Mann's gelding has more to do off a 7lb higher mark today and preference is for Kosmos Bleu, who gets the vote over Mamideos. The last mentioned has justifiably been raised 10lbs for his defeat of subsequent Kim Muir winner Juveigneur at Lingfield in December but an absence since then is of concern and he may be best watched at present. Kentford Grebe has been mixing chasing with hurdling and remains relatively unexposed over the larger obstacles. Personal Assurance has claims on the pick of his form but given the continued form of the Jonjo O'Neill stable is probably best passed over. Jimmy Frost's Ojays Alibi is another worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Kosmos Bleu. Robert Alner's gelding has shown improved form for being stepped up in trip of late, gaining a deserved success at Newbury last time. A 2lb rise for that is perfectly fair and Kosmos Bleu is taken to follow up.
