In depth

Verdict

Amadeus, Nice Horse and Tommy Spar are the three against the field with the vote going to the last named. Tommy Spar carries top weight after receiving a seven pound penalty for winning at Stratford when beating Mylo by six lengths. Connections obviously feel he will be better treated with this penalty and the fact that the yard are in top form at present means he has to have live chance of further success. Nice Horse did win a little contest over course and distance last month but since then has struggled to recapture his form. His latest form at Hereford when finishing fifth of nine is not good enough to be troubling the judge here so for that reason he is to be treated with caution. Amadeus is more consistent but he was beaten too far last time out at Southwell for our liking so for the winner we return to Tommy Spar.
