In depth

Verdict

In a brutal opening event, Nicada is given the nod ahead of Disco Dan and Regal Ovation. Gay Kellaway's runner is the most experienced in the field and looked to be in need of this trip on her latest start behind Fair N Square over 5 and a half furlongs on fast ground at Bath. The form of the race is nothing special but then neither is this contest. Disco Dan has shown little in two starts but this is a drop in class and he does have the assistance of Ryan Moore. However, the son of Danehill Dancer would appreciate more cut in the ground and the form of trainer David Simcock is an additional worry. In a contest which fails to inspire, it would be folly to totally dismiss the chance of Regal Ovation. Admittedly, his two runs have seen him beaten a total of 23 lengths. The latest contest , though, was a fair maiden at Salisbury and he had the worst of the drawn in stall one. In a tricky event , only a small wager is advised on Nicada
