Verdict
The Richard Hannon team have been a bit hit and miss of late but Encouragement makes more appeal on pedigree over this trip than fellow newcomers Great Opinion and Dubia Escapade. The Andrew Balding-trained Speed Of Sound is going the right way and makes slightly more appeal than Castelletto out of those with experience. While moves for Nella Fantasia and Frantic will also be interesting. However, Encouragement is bred to make an impact at this sort of trip and, being by Royal Applause, she should have no problems in handling the underfoot conditions. It has to be considered significant that Great Opinion and Dubai Escapade are being introduced at this sort of level but their lack of big-race entries suggests that they are expected to do better with time. Therefore, it may pay to stick with Encouragement as the one to be rely on to do the business first time out at the minimum distance.
