Verdict
Piermarini, Simone Martini and Laterly look to hold the strongest claims in this maiden and the vote is given to Piermarini. This 2-year-old colt from the Mark Johnston yard improved from his first run when he chased home Kandahar Run at Doncaster last time. He is clearly on the upgrade and he can prevail today. Simone Martini hails from a leading yard and he is another who built on his racecourse debut to run well second time out. However, his form so far has all been with cut in the ground so it remains to be seen whether this faster surface will suit. Laterly was a close third behind Benhavis at Redcar last time and the second in that race Carnival Queen has since been out and won, so the form looks solid enough. Millie's Rock and Lake Nayasaa are newcomers from leading yard so are worth a look in the market, but for the winner we will stick with Piermarini.
