        Verdict

A half-brother to Frankel, MORPHEUS went close to opening his account at Goodwood last time with a subsequent winner back in third. He looks the one to beat on that form and gets the vote. Shades of Silver never threatened on his return over a longer trip at this track and it was the same story for Elusive Band when he attempted 1m2f at Ripon last week. Spirit Rider looks a bigger threat on his form over today's distance though stablemate and newcomer Magistral is also worth noting in the betting. Able Dash is another to keep an eye on although Elsiniaar makes most appeal of the debutants as he's a half-brother to the high-class Viva Pataca amongst others and cost 220,000gns.
