In depth
Verdict
Yet another race that could go right down to the wire and a host of the field have claims on this season's efforts alone. However, the two to concentrate on could be Jair Ormsford and Archie Babe, who are both holding their from well this term and are hard to split on their encounter at Pontefract last month. The first named had the easier race on that occasion though and, judging by the way he finished, should confirm his superiority this afternoon. Out of the rest: Calatagan and Welsh Wind have both started the season well and are worthy of consideration for each-way players, while Escalade should strip fitter for his reappearance blow-out and could easily make the frame from what looks to be a very lenient mark on the pick of his form. However, like a few of the rest, there is a suspicion that his best days are now behind him and he is for the brave only. Therefore, we return to Jair Ormsford as the likeliest winner today; with Archie Babe making plenty of appeal for anyone willing to play with a reverse forecast.
