In depth

Verdict

Ingratitude gets a tentative vote in the opener, with Go Figure and Culture Queen best of the others that have seen action so far. There is added interest here with three Newmarket debutantes in Queen's Best, Jezawi and Astronova, but the only guide to their respective chances is the market, so unless one of the trio is strongly supported, we prefer to go with the proven evidence. With that in mind, and with Ralph Beckett's juveniles in form this term, a chance is taken that Ingratitude can improve on his fourth to Giganticus at Haydock a fortnight ago. Runner-up Erytheis has already franked the form with an albeit hard-fought success at Yarmouth on Wednesday, and hopes are high that the son of Inchinor can make the most of his high draw with the stalls being on the stands side. Go Figure has had four runs already but did not shape too badly at Salisbury last time, while Culture Queen was only denied on the line at Bath and has an extra furlong in her favour now. For the likely winner though, we return to Ingratitude.
