In depth

Verdict

Gold Guest would be an appropriate winner and gets the vote over Oulan Bator, Danzare and Jakarmi to name but three. The final event on the Nottingham card is named in honour of the England Cricket team's splendid achievement, and also highlight's the record on this track of Madam Jones who made just four visits during her long career, and managed to come out on top three times. Therefore her trainer David Evans will have surely primed Gold Guest to make a bold bid and he should go close. The six-year-old was successful over hurdles in July and has not really sparkled in two runs back on the Flat, but today's rider Steve Donohoe has won twice on him in the past, and back over 10 furlongs which is his best trip, the Welsh raider can bounce back with what would be a popular victory. Oulan Bator disappointed on soft ground at Chester last time but will give a better account here, and Danzare should appreciate the step up in trip after staying on behind Out For a Stroll at Salisbury last time. Jakarmi is a past course and distance winner but has a bit to do, and for the winner we rely on Gold Guest.
