In depth

Verdict

Dakota Rain is going the right way and can beat this large field including Pride of Nation, Let Slip and Haddaaf. Dakota Rain has had three runs to date, and gave signs of things to come when just beaten by Itqaan at Pontefract in August, having made a lot of the running. The same tactics were employed at York last time, but once again he was collared near the finish, this time by Topatoo who was given a great ride by Saleem Golam. It appears as though Dakota Rain does not have a change of gear to call on, but he can gallop, and with experience to call on he is taken to hang on this time. Pride of Nation shaped like a sure-fire future winner when second on his Warwick debut, but it remains to be seen how good that form is, while Let Slip has had plenty of opportunities already. She might just need this first outing since July. Haddaaf also returns from a mini-break and is best watched, so Dakota Rain is taken to come good.
