In depth
Verdict
Makarim should strip fitter for his reappearance at Kempton recently, where he displayed that he has lost none of his relish for the game. He is a consistent performer and should be thereabouts if he can put in something like his best. Renaissance Lady is another familiar figure who could also figure prominently if she is on song, and they will all have to keep tabs on her if she runs her usual race. However, she may not have things all her own way out in front and Almaydan has far more scope for improvement. Pat Eddery gave him a fine tactical ride last time, but Neil Callan is good enough replacement and another bold show is expected.
