Roller is tipped to defy top weight in a race which may not be as competitive as the numbers suggest. Only 3lbs higher than when bolting up by 8 lengths on soft ground at Newcastle a year ago, he will enjoy these conditions and got no sort of run at Brighton last time so can be excused that performance. He had earlier advertised his wellbeing with a good third on the all-weather and has everything in his favour today. China Red is another horse on a decent handicap mark and showed when second at Pontefract that he retains ability so has to be considered a danger, but Prince Du Soleil did not impress with his attitude when second over course and distance here earlier in the month and while the bare form gives him a chance he is possibly best left alone. Of the rest, Wilfram finished last year on a high note and it would be no surprise to see him show up prominently on his reappearance.
