In depth

Verdict

Lycian is useful at this level and bounced back to form when touched off behind Conundrum at Leicester last time. The handicapper has reacted by rasing Jamie Toller's colt 4lb but he remains on a handy mark and will relish the fast ground. Tarboush ended a longish losing sequence when making all on soft ground at Newbury over a mile. The son of Polish Precedent stays this trip but may not enjoy an easy lead in this bigger field but Kirov is the least exposed and is bred to appreciate this trip so may put a disappointing effort over a mile at Newmarket behind her off a 2lb lower mark.
