Verdict

There is a large turnout for this sprint handicap, and only a tentative vote can be given to Polar Impact over If By Chance and another recent winner, Just One Smile. The latter gained due reward for consistency when opening her account at Redcar recently, and as such may not be overburdened. She seems to be maturing well of late and is one for the short-list as is If By Chance who seems to thrive on racing. He scored at Newcastle just 24 hours after turning out at Southwell, and is a course and distance winner here. With Sam Hitchcott in the plate he should go well, while the likes of Pinchbeck and Woodbury should be noted in the betting. In a tricky contest the selection is Polar Impact who gained his first victory since last April when scoring at Newcastle six days ago. He turns out under a penalty, but if getting a lead, as he did from Soaked at Gosforth Park, he can be a major player, and as this race is likely to see a betting forecast of around six to one the field, Alan Berry¿s charge can still prove to be a bit of value.
