In depth
Verdict
Several have claims in a competitive finale including Castaway Queen, Night Warrior and Maritime Blues but the vote goes to Lord Temuchin, for who the booking of Kieren Fallon really takes the eye. The son of Desert Prince was entitled to need the run on his belated reappearance at Lingfield earlier this month and, considering that, ran well to finish fourth behind He Who Dares. Mark Wallace's gelding should improve for that run and, with Fallon having a great record when riding for the stable, he looks worth a bet. Castaway Queen went down by a short head over course and distance last time and should again be thereabouts, along with Night Warrior, if he can reproduce the form of his last time out win on Southwell's Fibresand. Maritime Blues has struggled since winning here in July but cannot be discounted entirely, along with Itchington from the in-form stable of Marcus Tregoning. Willoughby's Boy is a capable performer but does not win very often and, while Lord Temuchin has yet to open his account, this is probably his best opportunity to do so yet and, under Fallon, he gets the vote.
