In depth

Verdict

A wide-open handicap can go the way of Star Fever over Bodfari Signet, Political Sox and Faddad, with Mags Two not out of it either. Nicky Richards seems to have his summer team in good heart at present, and that augurs well for the chance of Star Fever who showed his best piece of form over hurdles when third over two miles and five furlongs at Ludlow in May. Although saddled with his fare share of weight here on what is his handicap debut, the five-year-old will benefit from the step up in trip, and the fact that Rose Davidson can take a handy 5lb off his back. Bodfari Signet stuck to his task well when second behind Munaawesh over shorter here last time and although now 10-years-old, may be capable of scoring again at this level at least, while the even older Political Sox is not badly treated on his best form and will go on the ground. Faddad is worth noting back over hurdles with Tony Dobbin in the plate, while Mags Two looks held by Bodfari Signet on recent course running, but was successful the time before last. The market should be noted for the remainder, with our vote going to Star Fever
