Ambition Royal has proven to be expensive to follow over hurdles but looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to open his account over timber and is taken to do so at the main expense of Wyn Dixie and Fearless Foursome. The selection won on his debut in a Warwick bumper and was thought good enough to run in the Champion Bumper at the Punchestown Festival. However, Lucinda Russell's gelding was well held there and, while showing promise on all four starts over hurdles since then, has always found at least one too good. The opposition today looks less exacting though and Ambition Royal can gain a deserved success. Peter Monteith's Wyn Dixie has claims on the form shown behind Stage By Stage at Hexham in June but disappointed on his next start and has been off the track for some time now. Fearless Foursome has shown promise in his last two starts but needs to improve again, while Lofty Leader has not progressed as much as might have been expected. Mr Prickle is another worthy of a mention but Ambition Royal sets a decent standard and will be tough to beat.
