In depth

Verdict

Plenty in with chances in an open event such as Spanish Main, Careysville and Red Rampage but marginal preference is for Orswell Crest. The Philip Hobbs-trained gelding has proved a model of consistency this term winning on three occasions including over an extended three miles here last time. The son of Crested Lark made all in the Class B event on that occasion and looks capable of further progress particularly over this longer trip. Careysville has had his problems but still retains plenty of ability judged on recent efforts and can't be dismissed despite top weight. Spanish Main comes here in excellent hear after scoring over this trip at Exeter when last seen out in March so clearly rates a danger while Red Rampage was a ready winner at Carlisle last time but may find conditions too quick.
