In depth

Verdict

Polinamix has tons of scope for improvement and is selected ahead of Tavalu and Irish Whispers in a very ordinary start to the Plumpton card. Irish Whispers showed flashes of ability over hurdles and paid his way with a victory at Fontwell last September. He returns to jumping fit from the Flat and is a contender in a weak contest like this. Tavalu holds a similar profile and, having gone close on couple of occasions over timber, he looks ready for a crack at fences. Still he lacks the scope held by the selection and may have to settle for a minor role. Which brings us back to Polinamix, who made a bright start to his career with David Pipe. He would easily be the best of these over hurdles and, assuming the Pipe team have done their customary groundwork, this fellow is expected to know exactly what to do for his introduction to chasing. The French-bred gelding looks a likely to type to be capable running up a sequence if all goes to plan from now on.
