Verdict

Amadeus doesn't get his nose in front too often but looks to have been found a winning opportunity here by Michael Scudamore and we expect him to take it, with Breezer, Allaboveboard and Boring Goring others to consider. Amadeus has been consistent in running decent races in defeat since landing a 2m 1f handicap chase at Fakenham in November. This return to around two and a half miles will be in his favour judged on his running at Chepstow last month and he can come good now. Breezer was a winner at Towcester last time, but wouldn't want the ground to stay as qucik as this to be seen at his best, and a 7lb rise won't help his follow-up bid. Allaboveboard comes from a yard who have winners here but looks in the grip of the handicapper, while Boring Goring is dropping in the weights but needs a few pounds less if he is to repeat his c&d win of four years ago. But Amadeus has a decent chance here and is our idea of the winner.
