Verdict
Whaleef can prove the answer in a tight-looking handicap, with Forever Dream, Greensmith Lane and Sardagna just three potential rivals. Having shown little previously, Whaleef improved a lot to win easily at Fontwell, beating Arm And A Leg to the tune of eight lengths. A fair novice hurdler last term, it has taken him a while to return to form, but as long as the going remains on the fast side, he should be capable of following up off this slightly higher mark. Forever Dream went down narrowly to Genuine Article at Stratford and as that was his first outing since April, he should improve again. A strong pace would suit him and whatever he does today, Philip Hobbs's charge should pick up a similar contest in time. Greensmith Lane hit winning form at Newton Abbot last time but has a bit more to do now, while Sardagna was unlucky against Mr Ed, also at the west-country track recently when a blunder at the last stopped him in his tracks. However, that was over much further than today's contest, and he is likely to be outpaced. If Whaleef turns in the same performance as at Fontwell, he should prove to be the answer though, and is the pick.
