Verdict
A race of this nature should be within Venice Road's capabilities but he has yet to convince with his jumping and is worth taking on again. Victree and Top Dawn are the two that make most appeal with the latter taken to come up trumps. The selection has shown improved form since joining Matt Sheppard from Lenny Lungo and looks up to winning a small race from his current mark. He has plenty to prove on the stamina front given that his recent placed efforts came at the minimum and 2 miles 3 but he's bred to stay. He also appears to have handled testing ground well enough in the past and is worth chancing. Victree was pulled up last time when his saddle slipped but he had been running well prior to that and has pretty solid claims. He's not always very fluent at his fences but he usually manages to negotiate them and he's been crying out for a crack at this trip. A clear round should see him go close but we think Top Dawn can prevail.
