In depth

Verdict

David Pipe tries OBISTAR in first-time blinkers and if they have the desired effect the five-year-old can gain his first success. A staying-on second at around this trip at Exeter, he was well beaten after a bad mistake at Towcester on Boxing Day where the shorter trip did him no favours. Letbeso reverts to hurdling after a couple of runs over timber though he's untried on ground as testing as this. Winning Irish point-to-pointer Call The Detective followed a reasonable debut for new connections at Ffos Las with a moderate run at Southwell but Sweet Boy Vic looks more of a threat as he jumps and stays well and the heavy ground is exactly what he requires.
