In depth
Verdict
A low grade affair in which of many chances, Bella Beguine has a far better draw than Zuhair and Balakiref. The draw at Pontefract is crucial over sprint trips and Alan Bailey's charge is nicely boxed in stall seven tonight. A rating of 57 does not look too harsh considering recent performances and with a fair effort at Catterick off the same mark fresh in the memory, he gets the nod. Zuhair is the class act of the field. Tonight's trip is ideal but he has been handed a tough draw on this occasion. Balakiref is sure to be popular with Kevin Darley aboard. He is coming the right way down the weights although the form of his stable is something of a worry. Super Canyon is interesting if fit first time out for Richard Quinn while old stager Paddywack looks sure to blaze the trail but is arguably a better prospect over five furlongs.
