In depth

Formwatch

Blue Velvet Was rated at 99 in June, but has not had the consistency this season. Has the potential to cause an upset, but unfancied on recent form.

Beyond The Clouds (IRE) Knows how to get his head in front, but lost his way this summer. A couple of improved runs recently could signify a return to form. Nice each-way bet prospect.

Lago di Varano Another who lost his form in the summer. Strong runs to finish second at Newcastle and fourth at York, looks on the upgrade.

Boanerges (IRE) Seems to prefer faster ground and hasn't shown much since win at Musselburgh in June. Best watched.

John O'Groats (IRE) Loves cut in the ground and can easily stay the distance, but draw is against him.

Gdansk (IRE) Won from a poor draw in the mud at Haydock last month and can never be overlooked.

Budelli (IRE) Knocking on the door for a win after finding one better five times. Decent draw.

Mungo Park Experienced campaigner and good at getting placed. Prefers a firmer surface. Outside chance.

Bond Boy Low draw a major disadvantage for this consistent colt. Current form could over-ride the draw.

Regal Song (IRE) Loves soft ground and always tries hard. Struggled last time at Pontefract. Should be up with the pace.

Francport First time at Ponte, but has won on soft ground. Stays the distance well. Every chance.

Soaked Course and distance winner. Capable of taking a race like this on a good day.

Soba Jones Wins have come on firmer surfaces and poor draw here. Best watched.

Cheeney Basin (IRE) On the upgrade and only just lost maiden tag. Will have to dig deep to overcome low draw.

Teyaar First time at course and a poor run of form recently. Best watched.

Bowlers Boy Course winner who needs the mud. Been generally consistent and plenty of stamina.

Torrent Last win came at Ponte last September. Good draw. Has to be fancied.

Peruvian Chief (IRE) A frustrating sort to follow; either good or very bad. Has not won in nearly two years. Top 4 chance.
