In depth

Verdict

We'll take ASCOT LIME to make the most of weight-for-age and beat the older horses here, while Granston and Luberon are respected. The selection comes here in good form, having won at Sandown last month and then gone close when trying to follow up over 11f at Kempton. Good ground suits, he is well treated at the weights and this stiff 10 furlongs should suit, so we'll side with him. Granston has been a good servant to James Bethell, with seven career wins to his name, though all except his most recent were over a mile or less. Though he has won over 10f at Doncaster this is much more testing and we will oppose him despite his fair mark. Luberon is back on a very attractive mark and this track can bring his stamina into play over a trip which is short of his optimum. On ground that will suit he could run a big race. Fragrancy might find this a bit too far, especially from his current mark, and the latter could also be a problem for Heaven Knows. Ascot Lime is the suggestion here.
