In depth
Verdict
Ulhuru Peak is no world beater but does look fairly treated here and is chosen to beat Menai Straights and Sweet Cando. Ulhuru Peak contested a slightly stronger race at York last time but could never get in a blow. Before that though he finished a close up fifth in a Catterick maiden, form that does give him a good chance here. Menai Straights has yet to get his head in front but has run with credit in both handicaps and maidens and is respected in this company. Sweet Cando has at least won a race, a small contest at Musselburgh last season. He also ran well on his seasonal debut, finishing just six lengths behind Bo McGinty in a class C contest at Hamilton. Speed Racer can also take a hand in the finish if recapturing the best of last season's form, however in a very trick contest Ulhuru Peak just gets our vote.
