In depth

Verdict

It is hard to get away from Takhmin in this race, and he get the nod in this juvenile contest, with The selection is owned by Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum and trained by Mark Johnston and cots 60,000 guineas as a yearling. Of course, the betting for this race will tell its own story but this son of Almutawakel is well-bred and has to top the shortlist of possible winners of this race. Turning to the others, Michael Bell's Royal Pardon is likeably bred so is one to keep a close on, while Desert Promise has shown promise and is certain to be suited by the step up in trip today. The same can be said of English Fellow, who looks set to be competitive, and Jun Fan, who got the hang of things in the closing stages behind the decent Bold Marc here over five on his debut. Lincolneurocruiser is another to have shown reasonable form when placed in the context of this race, and Mister Buzz is quite likeably bred so is another to watch in running. Beautiful Mover was just touched off in a Newmarket maiden on her debut, but that did not look a strong affair. We'll find out whether or not that is true today but, for us, the one to beat looks to be Takhmin.
