Verdict
Paris Bell was found wanting by Mark Johnston's Royal Island at Beverley on Saturday and may again have to settle for a minor role behind another Johnston inmate Jane Jubilee, who is preferred to Prince Namid. The last mentioned stepped up on his debut effort when a staying on close third behind King's Gait on heavy ground at Pontefract last month. There should be more to come from the son of Namid on ground that suits but preference is for the newcomer Jane Jubilee. Mark Johnston does not have a great record with his juveniles first time out but this daughter of the stable's 2,000 Guineas winner Mister Baileys is bred for stamina and, with the underfoot conditions to bring that into play, he looks worth a bet. The King's Theatre gelding Mas O Menos makes most appeal on pedigree of the remainder but, in a poor looking contest, Jane Jubilee gets the vote.
