In depth

Verdict

Intersky Melody ran well in the first-time blinkers last time, and if they work again then he needs respect, however Defies Logic shapes as if this trip will suit and he gets the nod over Amicable Terms. The selection comes here on the back of a fair third at Thirsk when he was denied a clear run when trying to make his move and then stayed on pleasingly for a never-nearer third. The step up to this trip looks in his favour and he is fancied to take a tough final heat. Mganga is a course winner and has claims on the pick of his runs but he is not the most consistent. Holden Caulfield and Persistent are a bit more reliable but hardly exceptional, so of more interest may be Intersky Melody who ran his best race to date three weeks ago at Beverley over this trip. South Wales also put up a more impressive display when last seen, and he looks to be on a workable handicap mark. Amicable Terms is yet another to consider in an open race, in which we side with top-weight Defies Logic.
