    Verdict

The ones making their way onto the shortlist for this seller are Uno Mente, Esperance, Hoh's Back, Russalka, Athollbrose, Defana and Plausabelle, with the vote going to Athollbrose. The Tim Easterby-trained selection is relatively lightly-raced, drops to selling company for the first time today, and has form enough - including when a solid third to Riley Boys at Beverley three runs ago - to be given a chance in this race. Ok, he was disappointing in first-time blinkers last time but Kevin Darley is booked today and he might just be able to get a winning tune out of the gelding. Uno Mente won from an eight-pound higher mark over eight furlongs last August but was disappointing last time, while Hoh's Back, who has only won at eight furlongs, has recently looked like he was worth stepping up to today's distance. Russalka drops to selling company for the first time and has bits of form that give him a chance, while Defana has form from a higher mark at this level, which clearly brings her into the reckoning, and Tim Easterby adds further intrigue to the contest by also running Plausabelle, who ran well over 10 furlongs at Beverley last time and will probably prefer this easier ten today. With the others looking fairly modest, we turn once again to the selection, which is Athollbrose.
