Verdict

It is hard to escape the attentions of Jilly Why in the finale and she gets the vote, although our shortlist also included the names of Banjo Bay, Haulage Man, Pride Of Kinloch and Park Avenue Princess. The selection is lightly-raced and has really come to hand now, winning her last two races. She is now racing from, effectively, a 16lb higher mark than for the first of those wins but is conceivably still well weighted. As such, she should give a good account of herself. Banjo bay rates a mention courtesy of the fact that he won off a mark of 86 in May 2003 and is now rated 65. He put in a fair run over seven furlongs last time and it would be no surprise to see him go well. Haulage Man is only a pound higher than a mark from which we know he can win, while Pride Of Kinloch caught the eye in running last time, although he has yet to win a race. The handicapper is now starting to relent with Park Avenue Princess, who is capable of running well from her current mark, while Winthorpe is five-pounds lower than for a winning mark but all of his career wins have come at five furlongs. There are, of course, others that will find their supporters in this contest but we will stick with the filly in form and side with Jilly Why.
