Verdict

Gleaming Sun has yet to win but made a bold bid to make most over this trip on soft ground at Ayr last week. Polyphony had shown enough to attract support at Musselburgh last month and duly obliged. That was only her fifth start so there should be more to come. In his last 10 starts, Mischief Managed has won twice and been placed seven times though he's been beaten off today's mark the last four times. He's likely to be thereabouts again along with another consistent performer, The Groove, though he's 7lb higher than his victory at Chepstow in August. Benjamin Thomas is 1-18 and been beaten in lower grade in recent starts so, in an open contest, the vote goes to CHAPLIN BAY. Ruth Carr's charge will enjoy the conditions, has been running well in similar class, and is 14lb lower than his last victory which came on the all-weather.
