Verdict
The shortlist contains Desert Arc, Amelia, Westborough, Coranglais, Summer Recluse and King Of Cyprus, with the vote going to the last-named. The David Nicholls-trained selection has raced only once, but that run came when impressively taking a Thirsk maiden. Ok, it is hard to assess the form, but he might well be worth chancing here from a canny yard. Desert Arc is on the shortlist because his stable is in form and this course and distance winner is nine pounds below the mark from which he won over course and distance in June 2004. Coranglais is respected based on his eyecatching late headway when third behind Summer Recluse at Warwick on Saturday, and he is now six pounds better off for the one-and-a-half lengths he finished behind his stablemate on that occasion. Amelia get a mention because she is back to a winning mark now and ran pretty well last time, while Westborough is well-handicapped on last October's form and he ran well from a poor draw last time. These are, for us, the principals, with the main hope being Keys Of Cyprus.
