A 20-runner low grade nursery on ground with plenty of give hardly looks a betting medium but EMERALD ASSET is taken to carry his big weight to victory. He made his nursery debut at Newcastle last month and only just failed to peg back Show Palace with today's rival Ae Fananah close behind in third. The latter has since finished runner-up to that same winner at Catterick, with several of these behind, and though there should be little between the pair again Paul Midgley's charge may just have more scope than his rival. Ponty Royale looked as though a nursery was within her scope with a couple of decent runs in maidens but didn't make any progress on her handicap bow at Hamilton. There was slight improvement from Weld Al Khawaneej at Thirsk, however, and there wouldn't need to be much more for him to get into the frame.
