Verdict

In receipt of the three-year-old allowance and weight from all of his opponents PENNFIELD PIRATE is taken to follow-up his Chepstow win. The Hughie Morrison-trained pick showed a good attitude when winning over this trip at the Welsh track, and a 5lb rise looks fair. He is already proven on a faster surface and gets the nod. Topweight Island Chief chases a hat-trick but has gone up 13lbs for wins at Ayr and Thirsk and there has to be a doubt over his stamina for this far. Lord Theo hails from a yard in good form and has conditions and trip to suit, while Leaving Alone went well here over course and distance last time and has a decent pilot for the grade up top, though Pennfield Pirate is preferred.
